MTNL broadband connection with wireless modem

have taken an MTNL broadband connection (combo plan) and since they could not supply a wireless modem, I went ahead and bought an SMC7901WBRA-2 modem-router. Now, come what may, I am just not being able to configure it to connect to MTNL . Even the guys from MTNL have given up since they do not have too much of a clue about modems other than the ones specified by them. Does anyone on this forum use the said modem for connecting to MTNL?
