Cut Those Cords, Let's Get Wireless

Imagine the modern world without wireless technology. Perhaps all the streets would be clumped up with cords, cables just mess around in roads or bridges and buildings, and all people would get tripped off every now and then with those long wires. Plus, people would need to create massive structures to support cables connecting archipelagoes. Well, good thing this drastic and daunting thing is not going to happen thanks to wireless technology! So what is wireless technology? Where did it come from? The Humble Beginnings Wireless began when man discovered how to send audio programs on air, which is rather called as the radio. Consequently, these audio transmissions were even developed by adding pictures and thus, the television emerged. Simply put, gadgets such as the radio, the TV and cellular phones all make use of wireless technology to deliver communication services to man. In the 21st Century, being wireless became more popular especially when the wireless Internet has been introduced. The Internet became even more convenient to users when wireless systems such as Wi-Fi, WAP, and i-Mode were developed. Much Like The Radio The principle behind wireless Internet is somehow the same as that used in radios; but instead of sounds and pictures, what is being sent and received are data. However, wireless Internet can only cater to short-distances, unlike with a radio and a television that can cover larger areas at once. Wi-Fi Router To have a wireless Internet access, a small box that plugs to a telephone socket is required, and this is called as a router. A router is like a modem, but it is not built within a computer. google_ad_client = "pub-2311940475806896"; /* 300x250, created 1/6/11 */ google_ad_slot = "0098904308"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; It has the job of passing on connections to and from the net. A router can be used to connect simultaneously several computers to the Internet. In fact, this little thing actually does a big job because it can both connect several computers with one another at the same time or what is called as a Local Area Network (LAN), and on the other hand, also connect these entire computers to the Internet. Mobile Internet Soon enough, the Internet world has also joined the world of mobile with compliments again to wireless technology. A system called WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) made it possible for cellular phones to access the Internet. Over time, newer wireless mobile connection standards have emerged, which provide faster Internet services on mobile phones such as the much-awaited new 4G mobile wireless technology. Surprisingly, wireless technology has evolved so much from the simple idea of radios up to the sophisticated planet of the Internet and mobile surfing. Well, with the current trend, there's no surprise if more and more gadgets become wireless!
