The Best in Wireless Internet Has Come to Los Angeles

There are many things that attract people to Los Angeles and/or that make the people already living in this famed city happy about their location. The list is pretty long, and it includes such things as having access to some of the world's prettiest beaches, being right next to the biggest media center on the planet, and generally having the many luxuries and privileges that come along with living in a massive metropolitan area (good traffic is unfortunately not on the list, though the most impressive freeways on the planet may be). A new factor that gives the folks of L.A. more cause for joy and bragging rights: the recent deployment of a cutting-edge 4G wireless network across the city and surrounding areas. It took a little while, but the next generation of wireless is here and it is something that the hip, savvy people of Los Angeles are surely going to put to good use.

When we talk about the best in wireless, what exactly is it that we're talking about? Well, there are many interesting and novel features about this latest generation of wireless internet that are worth describing to those that are as of yet unaware. The first thing that everyone wants to know about a new generation of wireless is, "how fast are the connections?!" Though speed isn't the only important factor, it certainly seems to be the most important one in the opinion of an overwhelming majority of internet users, wireless or not. The answer is likely to make the jaw of even the most pretentious and privileged broadband user drop: with 4G you're not talking about 3 Mbps or even 6 Mbps; you're talking about an astounding 12 Mbps or even more at certain times of the day, and that is quite simply unprecedented. But that's only the beginning of it

Another amazing feature of next generation wireless connections like those being used by the contended people of L.A. is the seamless nature of the network. What are we talking about when we use the word "seamless?" This technical word gets at the fact that the network doesn't allow your connection to be interrupted even for a brief moment as a result of your moving about within the coverage area. With 3G and 2G networks, as you moved from the radius of one access point to another in your city, your connection was cut as your mobile device performed what is known as a digital handshake with the new access point (transmitting tower). No such interruptions exist for 4G wireless users, because the network has a built in protection that means you're already connected to more than one access point at a time, and therefore are never caught in the "in between" phase where the interruption used to happen. It is just another of the many ways in which the newest wireless internet te chnology is improving usability and creating very, very happy users all over the nation.
