Cisco: Beyond Network Gear

Chances are, if you have any type of IT setup even just a simple business network - in your organization, then you likely have some Cisco networking gear pulling it all together. For close to thirty years now, Cisco has led the way in designing and producing state of the art networking gear for businesses large and small. From five-person organizations to multinational corporations, Cisco gear has kept them connected. Yet Cisco is more than just a networking company. Today, networking gear is just one part of their growing business. As technology advances, Cisco has advanced with it. Collaboration anyone? When is the last time you attended a Webex? If you are like most businesses, probably within the past two weeks. Webex is powered by Cisco, and so those same Cisco routers that connect you to the Internet are also helping deliver live, online collaboration and desktop meetings around the globe. Even if you arent collaborating online, you are probably talking on the phone. Today, more and more businesses are implementing VOIP (Voice over IP) phone systems, and one of the largest players in this arena is Cisco; with a full line of VOIP phones and telecommunications gear. Who watches the watchmen? Today, the answer is Cisco, who has developed a full line of IP enabled security and surveillance equipment that is being used in businesses and retail establishments around the world. No longer do business owners have to sit in their office to see whats taking place on the shop floor. From around the world, they can simply call up their surveillance systems to help monitor and protect their business. google_ad_client = "pub-2311940475806896"; /* 300x250, created 1/6/11 */ google_ad_slot = "0098904308"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; Of course Cisco does more than just monitor retail shops; Cisco security gear also helps protect the very same networks they help construct. A wide array of hardware and software designed to work together, detect and eliminate network threats before they become a problem for your organization. Some of the most well-known businesses in the world, such as Amazon and eBay, rely on Cisco network security and intrusion detection software to help keep their digital assets safe. At the end of every network cable there are usually HP servers or otherwise, and with Ciscos Unified Computing initiative they are also delivering systems and gear to help take advantage of current technology advancements such as virtualization and blade computing. The goal of Unified Computing is to make various systems, gear and software all work together to help keep the IT operations running smoothly. So from the VOIP phone on your desk, to the router connecting you to the network to the servers handling email in the back office, Cisco is pulling all aspects of the IT infrastructure together under one umbrella to simplify administration, increase security and lower costs. Cisco has gone far beyond the original router company they were back in the early 1980s. Today, Cisco products and technology are found throughout corporate, retail and home environments. Microsoft asked the population years ago Where do you want to go today? Now, Cisco may very well ask us How can we get you to where you want to go faster, safer and more reliably?
