The Best Wireless Router per Purpose - Technology - Gadgets and Gizmos

I am often asked to offer my opinion on hardware and software functionality-truth be told, it really all depends on how much you can and want to spend, how and where you're using the product, and how comfortable you are with setups and downloads in order to get the product up and running. One of the more pertinent questions I am asked is about lately is regarding wireless routers-well, that's a tricky question as there is really nothing such as an objective 'best overall wireless router of all-time" well, unless they can actually make one that not only offers lightning fast internet but also comes at an affordable price. The 'best wireless router' really depends on you and how you are going to use it; for example fill in the blank: To me, 'best wireless router' really means the best wireless router for____. The answer you used to fill in the blank is what you should be looking for! Say that you're a small business startup and need a router to keep your point of sale and cre dit card machines on-line, well, your needs will be different than those of the family guy who just needs to keep his family's network on-line. Now, if you're a bachelor who only needs to keep his web browsing experience effortless, your needs will be vastly different than your boss' router needs for keeping the entire office network up and running. As usual, we'll keep you informed as to the best possible for your current and growing needs. Here are some quick reviews-take your time, identify yourself in the examples and then make your decision...Home Use-the one I use is the NetGear WGR614 wireless router-it is designed for simple home use but it has proven to be one of the most capable and definitely the most secure router I have used. I can run my laptop, my wife's laptop and our son's notebook all at once with absolutely no peaks and valleys. Now, keep in mind that the overall speed does depend on your ISP, so there may be some lag at some peak times (usually around 7pm ) but other than that-this is the best wireless router for home usage! Small Businesses-if you're starting a small business, I would suggest something in the Bellkin wireless 'n' router family; this series is built as a halfway point between a home and business router. If you are trying to run a full office network on this, you'd be pushing its limitations, but if there were just a few devices, it is ideal. Heck, if you've got a 'coffee shop' atmosphere and your aim is to offer a hotspot, this will work well too. For the Larger Home-this is the husband and wife, a mortgage that you'd rather forget about, the 2.75 kids (how does that work?). The ideal choice here is one of Linksys' wireless routers; Linksys has been around since the dawning of time-really ever since wireless routers were only in office buildings- they are more than capable at the delivery of high-end, quality products that can handle larger networks. Keep in mind that you should always plan for expansion, eve n if there is no reason for it right now! Also, ensure that you secure your wireless router with the key that they give you so that other people cannot access your network which includes all of the sensitive information on your computers!
