Linksys WRT54G is G technology wireless router which works with Cable or DSL Internet service. It has 4 Ethernet ports where you can connect 4 computers/devices with the cable. Before settings up the wrt54g, connect your main computer directly to the modem and make sure that your computer will be able to go on the Internet directly through the modem. If it is on line with the modem then your modem is in working condition. Now connect your main computer and the Internet modem to the router. For the initial set up, it is recommended that you must connect the computer with the Ethernet cable. Even if it is a wireless laptop, connect it with the cable for the initial configuration. Now run the CD and follow the setup instructions. On this page you will find all the settings. According to your Internet service provider you can change the settings of the router. Linksys WRT54G version 5 and 6 need firmware upgrade.
