What Routers work with HP Computers? - Computers - Hardware

One thing people often wonder when setting up a network of any type is which routers are going to work with their computers. This is a fair question but we should get this out in the open: Any router will work. That's right you can buy a router of any make or model and connect it to your network. Your computers will usually see it, though sometimes it will be necessary to run some type of setup utility.

If you have an HP computer, then you are in luck because HP make their own line of routers. As we said before, you can use any router you wish, but when using an HP router with HP hardware, you will generally find that the process is much smoother. HP hardware is often fairly well built, and it is designed to interface with its own routers.

When you are buying a router for your HP computer network it becomes very important for you to ensure that you're buying what your company needs. For example there are some lower priced, lower end routers out there that might work for a small company, but if you are running more than two computers it will become a problem. To clarify, you CAN connect to such a router and it WILL work but you can more than likely say goodbye to the ability to access port 23 or anything other than basic web browsing.

You should also try not to choose anything too high end. Yes, your business needs room to grow but you don't need a router meant for a massive corporation if your building only utilises fifty computers. At some point you may need a router of that nature but there is no reason to spend twenty-thousand dollars on a router if you aren't projecting much growth in the immediate future.

Buying a router does not need to be difficult although purchasing a decent router will be a bit more expensive. By purchasing brand new you will have access to a better line of technical support and if you have never used a high end HP router you may just find that you actually need the support. In addition to that, there are some routers that require an HP technician to enter the root password, and with that being the case, some things are simply better left to the professionals.

Start evaluating your business needs today and see just what you can do for your company. It won't be long before you have a great, high functioning network powered by HP.
