Sat Nav Concepts

A sat nav system is an essential asset for any aspiring military power. However due to the growing use of satellite navigation e.g. marine use, engineering use and the ever growing in car sat use the growth of satellite navigation for everyday applications is set to continue.
Sat Nav (Satellite Navigation), or also known as GPS, (Global Positioning System) and all its spin offs will help everybody be it returning from The Hull Bridge or Barneys Transport Cafe Truck Stop or otherwise. Eventually it will help the whole world in ways that most have not even thought of yet,,, however on this page (and there are two others provided) I will concentrate on Sat Nav Information and how can it help you.

First lets look at what you drive or what you do, lets take an HGV and coach driver no matter if in the UK or on the continent. You get a job from point A to point B and you have not covered that route before as it crosses the country quite a bit,,, in this Blog or article I will concentrate on Tom Tom Sat Nav because after much research over 12 months and more I decided to buy a Tom Tom GO 300 which is provided with UK maps, thats all I personally need.
Its really easy with Tom Tom Sat Nav in that you could just select the Marriott Hotel from the points of interest you have in your Sat Nav and then say fastest route and off you go,,, or tell it limited speed and again off you go after it has told you what time you should expect to arrive,,, and its accurate in my experience,,, very much so,, it even whilst you are en route tells you if it has updated the arrival time due to events or your driving speed difference. Telling your passengers that you will arrive at about 5 minutes past 4 is impressive,,, and thats a Sat Nav in the shape of a Tom Tom Go 300 or 700 in the case of having all the EU maps.
How the public benefit from satellite navigation (Sat nav)
The explosion of sat nav usage is due to the low sat nav costs and how practical they are, especially if you are driving alone and you have no one to help map read. With more and more motorists venturing abroad in their cars the sat nav is an indispensable device to help them navigate around foreign countries. The latest sat nav systems also incorporate Traffic Congestion warnings and then work out an alternative route, with voice instructions, to help avoid a lengthy delay in traffic.
Sat Nav is becoming increasingly feasible in these days and offers several benefits.
Better location search
If you dont know your destinations street name or zip code, a sat nav can be practically useless. A web-based solution lets you locate a destination by company name, area, type of business, or any other criteria using natural language.
Instant updates
Details of new routes, road works, accidents, heavy traffic etc. can be updated in real time and relayed to a web application. Some Sat Nav offer this facility but many require subscription fees and the quality of the information is variable.
Data mashups
A web-based sat nav can access information from anywhere on the net. Once your route is calculated, the Sat Nav could offer live videos of road-side cameras, restaurant or hotel offers, sites of interest, etc.
Collaborative routing
Details of every users journey can be collated and analyzed. The driver would have access to a huge database of recommended routes, average times, interesting journeys, etc. Rather than selecting the shortest or quickest route, the driver would be able to select the quietest, most popular, best scenery, etc.
Alternative transport
A Sat Nav or satellite navigation system can access information from a variety of transport systems not just the road. For example, the data might indicate that a route will be especially busy because of holiday traffic, recommend a train service and instantly book a ticket.
Supports existing hardware
many smart phones already offer good web browsers and GPS facilities. Theres no reason why you couldnt use a net book, tablet or similar hardware rather than a dedicated device.
Multiple input methods
Dedicated sat navs have restricted hardware and software, but a smart phone or PC can support other input and output devices. For example, the web cam or microphone could be utilized to offer gestures or voice control.
Conclusion
Satellite navigation is increasingly becoming a vital component of aircraft, ships and cars and Europe is concerned about relying entirely on the US system. The clearest of these is the fact that satellite navigation will become a fully redundant service for civil aviation users in the event of a satellite or system failure.
