Theta Brain Waves to Access Powerful Emotions

Did you know that theta brain waves are what allow you to experience the most powerful emotions from within? Each time that you feel very strongly about something, your theta waves are what kick in and allow you to feel your "feelings." It is a great advantage to be able to have feelings because it helps you relate to other people and create emotional connections with friends. If you have ever taken the time to think about a really good memory you had with someone, there was probably a lot of emotion involved in that experience.

It has been found that people with smaller than average amounts of theta waves have trouble relating and empathizing with other human beings. They simply do not have as much emotion and are not able to create emotional bonds with other people. Every time that you experience a profound emotion, whether it be happiness, sadness, or strong anger, you are connecting with your theta.

Unfortunately, when some people's brains are not able to naturally regulate theta, they may experience attention-deficit problems. People that have attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder will usually be found to have abnormally large amounts of slow theta brain waves. This is not a bad thing at all, but it can impair their ability to turn off strong emotions.

When you are chronically experiencing strong emotions, it can take a huge mental toll on you. When your brain shifts to other brain waves like alpha waves or even upwards to beta waves, you are able to not get caught up in emotional surges. At most times in our lives when a dramatic event occurs (like a first kiss or the death of a loved one), we experience a ton of theta waves.

The way our mind works is that it rotates throughout the day between various brainwave states. When you are stressed, you have a lot of beta waves and when you are relaxed, you have more alpha waves. If you are feeling very emotional on a consistent basis, that is because you have a lot of theta waves. Most of the time, these brainwaves help us figure out what we should do in life by guiding our actions. To increase the amount of theta waves that you consistently experience, you can practice certain types of meditation or find a way to relax as deeply as possible. When you relax deeply, you will be able to experience a rising up of emotions and hence the theta brainwave.
