Recommended Sightseeing Destinations Accessible From Manila

You know what they say: Sometimes, it's not about the destination... it's about the journey. So, if for example one finds himself or herself short on cash in Manila and forced to stay at a Cheap Manila Hotel, then that shouldn't let one down. After all, if one manages to snag cheap accommodations, then there's more money to be spent elsewhere!

Most likely, travelers would rather get up and about rather than stay holed up in their hotel rooms. What are some of the great places travelers can check out? Here are a couple recommendations, sure to be quite accessible from Cheap Manila Hotels. These choices might not be listed in most travel journals, but should still provide a welcome experience for everyone.

Greenhills / Tiendesitas

Ortigas Avenue nestles on both its ends two very unique places yet very similar places. The Greenhills shopping complex and Tiendesitas are developed by the same company, and they offer an incredible shopping, entertainment and dining experience.

Both of these places have tiangges or flea markets, offering a full complement of items. From clothing and shoes to trinkets and furniture, one can be sure to find practically anything within these two places' walls. Greenhills is also known as a great source of consumer electronics, from computers to mobile phones. Tiendesitas, or 'Tiende' as it is fondly called, provides fashionistas with ample supply to mix and match.

Additionally, Greenhills is like a Mecca for hobbyists and collectors, especially toy collectors. Manga, anime, sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, and even erotica-all of these genres are covered in the shops at Shoppesville and Virra Mall.

Dining will also be a blast. There's Le Ching and the restaurant lineup at the Promenade in Greenhills. Tiendesitas offers an extensive selection of dining places and grills that offer Filipino comfort food.

The best thing about these two is that there's a free shuttle service from one to the other!

Cubao X

Don't be daunted by the name-Cubao X isn't some sleazy neighborhood or red light district. Cubao X, formerly known as the Marikina Shoe Expo, is a fun place with very unique shops, and is a great roundabout to check out if one has the time.

Nestled in Cubao X are a bunch of shoe shops that offer quality footwear at great prices. There are also some vintage items courtesy of Vintage Pop, with nostalgic merchandise such as old clocks, Viewmasters, and toys. Sputnik is the local comics store with a variety of comic-related media and merchandise.

It is also known as the Artist Community, with its many galleries-Black Soup, Heritage, and Future Prospects, among others. Many events, such as literary conferences, are held within Cubao X, as well.

When one gets tired from shopping and looking, there's Alan's Grill, which has some of the best grilled delicacies this side of Manila. Mogwai is also a bar frequented by all sorts of people, and should be able to provide a refreshing nightcap for Cubao X patrons.

Conclusion

These two destinations are just some of the many places not many people know of, and they certainly aren't showcased in most glossy Philippine travel guides. But if you're looking for a great experience not confined to malls or the common sights associated with the Philippines, Greenhills/Tiendesitas and Cubao X are the two places to be. So, if you're just sitting in your Cheap Manila Hotel room, check these places out if you can.
