The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon originated in France in 1874 when a man crossed 20 different breeds to create his perfect breed. This perfect breed was a hunting dog, known for its good nose. This is a fairly large breed, standing between 20 and 24 inches tall and weighing between 50 and 60 pounds.
