Most people think that multi store point of sale systems is the same as having numerous individual POS systems in their store branches. It does sound and look the same in the sense that it accomplishes having POS in each store branches. However, in reality, there's a huge difference between the two.
Numerous POS SystemsNumerous POS systems are those that you place in each of your store branches individually. This usually happens when you start from one store branch and add a few more in separate instances. You purchase the same POS system for each of your stores. When this happens, you have individual POS systems that work separately. This makes sense since each of your stores is separated right? However, this thinking is wrong because even though your stores are physically separated, they must be unified under one umbrella and that is called your company.
When you have individual POS systems that do not link with each other, not only do you take so much time in accessing each of these systems but you endanger your business from having multiple identities. How is this so? Since they do not receive updates or data at the same time and since you cannot monitor them all at the same time, one store would definitely perform less well than the other. When this happens, you company or the name that you built will have inconsistencies.
Multi Store Point of Sale SystemsOn the other hand, multi store point of sale systems are linked together. This does not mean that each store can access each others' data. What this means is that it is linked centrally to one umbrella which is you. Physically of course, each of your store branches would have their own system. The main difference lies in the centralization of these point of sale systems. When the POS are centralized to one specific entity (which is you), you can access and monitor these stores all at the same time. It gives you the capacity to give equal attention to each of your stores. You can compare their data with each other and send updates to all of your stores all at the same time.
Since you can monitor and take care of your stores all at the same time, you can be assured that no store would fall behind. This puts all of your stores under a single management system which allows you to immediately check and respond to them. A multi store point of sale basically turns your individual stores into a chain of stores.
