What are the Best Routers to use for Your Business - Computers - Hardware

When you're running a business you more than likely realize that communication is key, especially if you are trying to establish a new network. The questions you need to start asking of course will relate to what you need as far as network communications go. For instance it would always be a great idea to make absolutely certain that when you are dealing with network communication of any kind that you have all of the options you could possibly need.

When you're working with a home network setup, more than likely you will not need to concern yourself with options, but there are times when you will want to deal with higher end security settings or even antenna frequencies. Many people make the mistake of believing that the software in the router is what makes all the difference. Yes, there is a distinct difference between a 8,000 router and a 50 router as far as software goes, but the hardware makes a difference as well.

For instance you might have some decent hardware in your lower end router, but the higher end routers will simply be able to handle a greater load. That being said, flashing your router with custom firmware will only make a difference if you are the only individual actually using it.

When it comes to routers and networking hardware in general, the one name that everyone is going to recognize by default will of course be Cisco. They have absorbed the Linksys name, but so far no major improvements have been seen in Linksys hardware as a result. Something to note is that if you choose to go with Cisco hardware, you may not receive your root password in the event your router is under warranty, any root passwords will remain the sole property of your provider. The upside to this of course is that the company will ensure you have the proper setup at all times, which can actually be quite helpful.

In most cases you will be informed as to how many users the router can generally support, though most routers can go a little bit above the recommended. Normally only a few computers will actually connect to the router with a switch controlling the rest of the network, although switches are a different area of discussion. That being said, it would more than likely be in your best interest to ensure that when you are installing a router, make sure you choose one that will meet the needs to have now as well as the needs you might have in the future. This doesn't mean that you need the highest end router, but it does mean that you need to think ahead as much as possible.
