Routers are located at gateways, the places where two or more networks connect, and are the critical device that keeps data flowing between networks and keeps the networks connected to the Internet. Routers are used to connect a LAN to a WAN (such as your small network to the Internet) but they can also be used to connect segments of a large LAN that has been subnetted into smaller segments. Routers are easy to configure for dynamic or static connections. Routers are also the only one of these devices that will allow you to share a single IP address among multiple network clients. Routers are, if you're serious about a wireless network, a very good thing.
Routers
Routers are now available in many types, though all are fundamentally doing the same job. Routers operate in two different planes: Control Plane, in which the router learns the outgoing interface that is most appropriate for forwarding specific packets to specific destinations, Forwarding Plane, which is responsible for the actual process of sending a packet received on a logical interface to an outbound logical interface. Routers use time stamps to filter or block certainsites, and e-mail messages are sorted in most of our inboxes according to thetime they are sent. Network
Networks are fairly easy to put together, at least in the home and small office environment, and they're also pretty cheap. Wireless broadband routers look much the same as a wired router, with the obvious exception of the antenna on top, and the lack of cable running from the PCs to the router when it is all set up.
