Ever had that time where your internet seems to take forever to load? Or when you download something and then 30 minutes later it's still not finished. Sometimes, my internet does that and I want to throw it out the window. But sometimes, it's the applications that run on your computer; or how you place your router that can affect your internet connection. Here are some tips that can help speed up your broadband internet.
1. Keep your broadband private. This is the first thing you should do to revert your wifi back to it's normal speed. Keep your connection secure; if you don't others close to you can use your wifi signal and access the internet. You are paying for that wifi, so it would be your loss. Since there are more devices connected to your wifi; then the speed will be shared with these other devices; and yours will be compromised.
2. Try placing your router in the same room as your PC. Signals will flow from your router then reach your PC or laptop; they can travel through cement, ceilings and walls- but not as good. Ceilings and walls can be barriers to these signals therefore reducing the strength once it reaches your PC. If you have several walls separating your PC from your router, each of these barriers can potentially reduce the signal link between you two.
3. Position your router near your PC or laptop. You can maximise the strength of your signal by placing the PC and your router closer. The closer the proximity; the better chances that you can easily connect with it. Just imagine it like this; if your broadband and computer can "see" each other; the the better the signal strength. The better connection that you have with it.
4. Switch off the router and wait for seconds to a minute; then switch it on again. If you find your broadband slower than usual; remember that sometimes electronic devices can be "muddled" sometimes. Turn of your router, it's one of the simplest ways to start with. By doing so, you reset all the microprocessors. This will help to boost your broadband speed. I do that a lot; sometimes once or twice before my signal strength is back to normal.
5. Go for shorter cables. Make sure that the cable that connects your router to the sockets are short. If you are using the usual and long phone lead, then try and replace it with a shorter cord. Replace it with the one that comes ideally with your router.
If your experiencing that your internet is getting slower than usual; then remember these tips and execute them. Often times you really have to find the source of the problem. If you find your wifi connection totally slow, then check the list. When you have done all the necessary things to keep the signal strong but still find it slow; you can call up the network company and ask them why your broadband is slowing. Sometimes it's the company; so call them up and them ask them as to what's the reason why your wifi is on the low.
